Desktop trading terminal or browser tab: what changes
Every trade on Polymarket ends in the same order book. What differs between tools is everything before that: where your signer key lives, whose servers see your orders, how many steps a decision takes and how many markets fit on one screen. This guide compares the four kinds of interface a trader can use and describes what polydesk clicktrader, a native desktop terminal, does differently. It names categories, not products.
Four ways to trade
- The web interface. The platform's own site. Complete, always current, one market per tab, order entry through a form with side, price, size and confirmation.
- Browser add-ons. Extensions or bookmarklets that inject extra controls into the web interface. They run inside the same tab and inherit its session; what they can see and do depends on the add-on and its permissions.
- Hosted web terminals. A separate website with a trading layout. Convenient, nothing to install; whether orders and keys pass through the operator's servers depends on the service and is worth reading up on before connecting a wallet.
- A native desktop client. An application installed on your computer with its own window, its own layout and its own connection to the platform's API. polydesk clicktrader is in this category.
What to compare
| Criterion | Web interface | Browser add-on | Hosted web terminal | polydesk clicktrader |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Where the signer key lives | Your wallet | Your wallet, inside the browser session | Depends on the service | On your machine, generated and stored locally |
| Who is in the order path | Platform only | Platform, plus whatever the add-on calls | Depends on the service | Platform only; no itereon server |
| Order entry | Form and confirmation | Form, sometimes shortcuts | Varies | One click on a price cell; hotkeys 1 to 8, F, ESC |
| Markets on one screen | One per tab | One per tab | Varies | Several ladders and the Grid side by side |
| Kill switch | Cancel orders one by one | Varies | Varies | DISARM in the top bar, CANCEL ALL in the panel, Esc from anywhere |
| Updates | Automatic | Store or manual | Automatic | Automatic in-app update; releases and checksums published in the public repository |
| Cost | Platform fees | Varies | Varies | Free tier, size-capped; Plus flat subscription; platform fees apply in every tier |
The rows about keys and the order path matter most. There have been documented cases of trojanized trading tools in this space carrying key stealers, and of services that could see more than a trader expected. A tool that never holds keys or funds has nothing to lose for you; that is the design principle behind polydesk clicktrader (architecture).
What polydesk clicktrader is
A locally installed desktop application for Windows and macOS. It connects to the Polymarket API from your machine, shows markets as ladders and a Grid, and places the order you click with the size preset you selected. Positions, working orders, a compact order book across markets and a session log are on the same screen. The signer key is created and stays on your device; the only data that reaches itereon is technical error and crash diagnostics (privacy policy).
What it is not
- Not a bot. No automation, no order is placed without your click.
- Not copy trading or a signal service. It follows no wallets, ranks no markets and recommends nothing.
- Not custody. We never see, transmit or store key material and cannot access your funds.
- Not a broker, exchange or platform. You need your own Polymarket account; which markets exist and what they cost is decided by the platform, not by us.
- Not affiliated with Polymarket. itereon GmbH is an independent software company in Vienna. Compatible with Polymarket; neither operated nor endorsed by it.
Getting started
- Download the build for your system from the download section and verify the SHA-256 checksum. Windows installers are signed by itereon GmbH; macOS builds are not yet signed, so Gatekeeper will warn on first launch.
- Start in paper mode: the full terminal against live market data with simulated fills, free and without time limit.
- When the workflow is familiar, connect your own wallet and switch to LIVE. Free includes live trading with size caps; the tutorial covers each step.

What this page is and is not. polydesk clicktrader is a software tool, a local user interface. It provides no recommendations, signals or strategies and promises no economic outcome; all trading decisions and their results are your own. Trading on prediction markets can lead to the loss of all committed funds. In live mode, a software error can lead to unintended orders; practice in paper mode first, start with small sizes and use DISARM when you step away (terms, section 5).
Compatible with Polymarket. Not affiliated with Polymarket, neither operated nor endorsed by Polymarket. Polymarket is a trademark of its respective owner; itereon GmbH is independent and uses the name solely to describe compatibility.
